Happy Sunday Reader!

How do you handle change in your life? Change is inevitable in any life, and learning to navigate change without forgetting your self-care practice is key to success. Keep reading for self-care tips that will help you through changes.

Here is an opportunity to practice your self-care through a period of change. As I am focusing more on my financial planning work, I find that I need to transition my time away from Self-Care Sunday. So this will be the last edition of Self-Care Sunday.

As a subscriber, you will automatically be transitioned to my new newsletter talking about the personal part of personal finance. There is nothing you need to do, and if you don't enjoy the first edition, feel free to unsubscribe. No hard feelings!

Self care tip.....

Change can feel uncomfortable, scary, or chaotic. While staying where you are, may feel warm, comfortable and safe. But, life will have change in it, there is just no way around it. The key to navigating change successfully is embracing what is new, while honoring your feelings and doing the best for yourself.

Keeping self-care as a focus during these times of change can make the process feel easier. Here are a few simple tips to do so.

Schedule in self-care on your calendar (and stick to it!). Give yourself some space to process change by adding an appointment to your calendar or make plans with a friend who encourages you for a good long chat. Hold yourself to this time and use it for self-care that feels good to you.

Practice self-compassion. We have talked about self-compassion a lot here, but as a refresher it is using your inner voice to give yourself the same compassionate understanding that you would extend to a friend or loved one. Speaking understandingly and kindly to yourself as you navigate change, rather than speaking in a belittling tone, using harsh words, or expecting perfection from yourself.

Look for areas of change that excite you. With all areas of change, there are nuances that are either better or worse than the overall change. Take some time and look for the areas of change that may excite you. When you are feeling overwhelmed with the change, take a moment to think about or dream a bit on these exciting parts of change.

Go slow, It's not a race. Often big changes feel overwhelming and there is pressure to implement or process the change quickly. Often, that doesn't need to happen. It's OK to pump the brakes and pause the change process for a bit to get your bearings. Rushing through the process isn't helpful, stand your ground and take the time needed to get comfortable with the path this change is taking.

Remind yourself of the benefits or end result of this change. Often the path towards change is more painful than the end result. When the process feels tough or overwhelming, take a moment to remind yourself how nice/easy/simple things will be when the change is complete.

Etsy Find of the week.....

Here are some of my favorite Etsy items to enjoy and help you on this self-care journey!

One of my favorite simple pleasures, is the scent of a bath or beauty product that I love! And my friend at Taylor Made Soaps has several of them! Check out her fun summer Berry Lemonade Soap or Soothing Epson Bath Salts! Both are some of my favorite products to use!

Keep a reminder about your value as you work through your self-care and self-love journey like this.

Treat yourself with some pampering delivered right to your mailbox!

Help keep yourself accountable with this self-care journal full of gratitude and self-care tips.

Upcoming week intention......

Create your own self-care menu to have as a go-to whenever you are feeling so overwhelmed that you can't even decide what to do. Check out my how-to here to guide you through the process!

Weekly good news to share.....

The Good News Network has become one of my favorite sites to check when the regular news seems overwhelming and sad. They have a podcast featuring good news topics and wellness information. One of my favorite episodes is Giving yourself permission to be well with Dr. James Rouse. Shifting your mindset to see self-care as a critical part of your own wellness rather than an indulgence, is key to a lifelong and consistent self-care practice. Give it a listen!

Featured blog post of the week......

Of all the self-care inspired blog posts I have written, I think this one is my favorite! The idea of creating my own personalized list or "menu" of my favorite and most restorative self-care activities has been life changing for me. I challenge you to create your own as your self-care activity this week!

One thing I am loving this week.....

Having an automated reminder each week is incredibly helpful to any self-care practice. I have found a few other people who do this same kind of self-care or wellness habit focused weekly emails. If they interest you and are helpful, subscribe now!
