Self-Care Sunday- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Published over 1 year ago • 3 min read

Happy Sunday Reader!

It’s December! I feel like Christmas was sneaking into life a little bit at a time before December started, and now it is like Boom! Ready or not…. Here I am!

While December starts with a ton of Holiday season excitement and magic, it can quickly become so full and demanding that your excitement turns into the start of burnout.

Pay attention to yourself, your feelings, and your mood this holiday season so you can identify any burnout that may be taking hold. You can find out more about the different stages of burnout in this post.

Self care tip.....

Burnout happens because of small things that happen over and over. It often sneaks up on you and can be difficult for you to identify while you are dealing with it. This December, be mindful and aware of the symptoms of early burnout so that you can take steps to reverse them. You don't want burnout to gain a foothold! Plan a time to journal, check in with close friends or family, and watch for these burnout signs in your life.

Etsy Find of the week.....

All December, I will be sharing some of my favorite Holiday Etsy Stores with you!

I have been reading Mavis’s blog for years, since she lived near my hometown. Today, she has moved across the country (to Maine!) and expanded from her rug hooking to offer red clay handmade ornaments!

I love the simplicity of the designs and coloring, plus she has such local flair including her chickens, whales and lobsters from her coastal Maine home! You can check them all out here!

These candy cane ornaments are so adorable! I love that they come in triplicate to sprinkle on all sides of the tree!

Who doesn't need more mittens in their life, even if they are clay!

A simple, classic red stocking is the perfect ornament to put on any tree!

Upcoming week intention......

Which of the burnout signs listed above are you most susceptible to? For me it is neglecting downtime or self-care in my pursuit to do all of the things. Make a note of that and do a specific check in with yourself to catch your burnout early.

Weekly good news to share.....

One of my favorite vacations was the trip I took to visit Australia several years ago. My favorite part of that trip, by far, was getting to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef. The quantity and variety of coral was heads above anything I had ever seen, even in its current damaged state.

That is why this article excites me so much! I would love to see the Reef grow stronger to expand and fight the damage done by climate change. I just want to encourage all those little coral spawns to grow big, colorful, and strong!

Featured blog post of the week......

The holiday season is great for indulging in some amazing meals and treats that only happen once a year! Don't feel guilty for enjoying them! The food and sweet treats are a big part of what makes this such a magical part of the year.

When you need a break between the indulgences, make yourself some healthy copycat Sweetgreen bowls full of light, fresh, superfoods! Check out my post here to get some amazing tips about how Sweetgreen makes their bowls feel and taste so special!

One thing I am loving this week.....

In case you missed it, yesterday was National Cookie Day! Did you eat or make cookies to acknowledge it? Well, just because it was yesterday, doesn't mean you can't celebrate it today….or tomorrow….. or all week!!!! Check out some of my favorite cookie recipes!

Monster Cookie with a Christmas twist!

I love the classic crinkle look of these Chocolate Crinkle Cookies!

Continuing the dipped in powdered sugar trend is this Stuffed Hazelnut Amaretti Cookies!

These cookies caught my eye even before I saw what they were! Look at those toppings!

My favorite family tradition is the Spritz cookie from a cookie press!

So many good flavors in these White Chocolate Chai Pumpkin Snickerdoodles!

If you make cookies for National Cookie day, tag me on Instagram @Kaybeelives so we can celebrate together!

Happy Sunday Reader! It finally feels like summer may be just around the corner! Finally! One of my favorite parts of summer is how it feels like everyone is out, about, and mingling. I run into so many people in the summer, that I never see the rest of the year! Loneliness can happen any time of the year, but it can be especially difficult in the summer when it seems like everyone is doing things with other people. Self care tip..... Social media, Zoom, smart phones, and email have left us...
